Learn and Earn
Train to become a beauty therapist whilst working at a top Champneys resort
If you have you dreamed of becoming an elite beauty therapist, trained by one of the UK’s very best colleges but unable to afford the course fees, the Champneys group is offering a new sponsorship scheme to only the best, most dedicated candidates.
Achieving a place as a ‘Learn and Earn’ therapist means the ability to pay the course fees as you work in one of the resorts, alongside your training. In just two years you can be a Champneys ‘Gold’ Therapist, qualified to the highest level in Beauty Therapy, the CIDESCO International Diploma.
Champneys Resorts only accept elite applicants to work alongside training at the Champneys College. Prospective ‘Learn and Earn’ students must show a commitment to their own learning, excellent customer service skills and show adeptness for a career in Beauty Therapy.
Places are limited to 8 students each year and applicants are currently accepted to work at either Champneys at Henlow or Champneys Tring and must be flexible enough to work at other resorts when required.
The criteria for application of work alongside training:
All applicants must be over 18 years of age
Have Maths and English to GSCE grade C-A
Have a Level 3 qualification or equivalent (e.g. A level, BTEC diploma)
Experience in customer service
Work training balance
In the first year you will attend college two and a half days a week, learning body therapy (body massage, figure analysis, body electrical treatments, aromatherapy and other additional subjects). Initially you will learn body massage and you will work at the resort for two and a half days. When competent in treatments you will then make up part of the Champneys Spa team of therapists carrying out treatments on the resort guests. The Spa will organise your rota around College hours, but it will require regular weekend work.
During the second year you will learn the Aesthetics treatments (facials, facial electrical treatments, manicure, pedicure, waxing, makeup and eye treatments). Further CIDESCO requirements will take place in CIDESCO term.
On completion of the course you will continue to work at the resort for a further 600 hours as required by CIDESCO and complete all payments for the college fee loan.
You will receive your CIDESCO diploma once the loan has been paid.
How to apply
An application is made to the College for the CIDESCO programme. Once an offer is made you can apply to the Champneys group for a place as a ‘Learn and Earn’ therapist.
Applications can be made at any time of year but interviews carried out at the resorts for ‘Learn and Earn’ placements are between June and July – notification of an offer will be in August.
Fees and payment
If accepted on the ‘Learn and Earn’ programme a down payment of £3,000 is required before the start of the course. You will sign a loan agreement with the Champneys group. The balance of the fees will then be paid back from your salary whilst working in the spa, this will be approximately one third of your net salary each month.
